In 2016, we, Hannah Bickhoff, Christine Koschel, Sophia Sadzakov and Hannah Liya Sadzakov and Hannah Liya founded the non-profit (organization) Nachtsicht e.V. Our initiative is driven by / rooted in the shared desire to open up empowering spaces outside of established institutions, forge creative alliances, and celebrate life together/collectively.
Back then we were amidst our studies, but now we are freelance artists, winemakers, cultural producers, and curators in Stuttgart, Cologne, Leipzig and Chemnitz. Our collective work is informed by our respective perspectives and professional and personal experiences; it is subject to constant negotiation and exchange processes. What has brought us together throughout is the vision of and the search for a stimulating, intersectional, feminist, and low-threshold cultural landscape.
The Nachtsicht Festival has been awarded institutional project funding from the City of Stuttgart for €176,000 for the period from 2024 to 2027.
what Nachtsicht stands for:
- Organizing an interdisciplinary festival without admission fees
- Offering a cultural program that brings the city’s population together in its diversity
- Supporting artistic talent, regardless of age
- Ensuring fair remuneration for artists and cultural workers
- Connecting local and international artists
- Sharing practical skills and knowledge through workshops and discussions
- Understanding intersectional feminism as a way to broaden opportunities for people with structurally and systematically limited possibilities
- Providing space for artists working at the intersections of disciplines (e.g., music/art/dance and science/agriculture/crafts/economics/…)
- Using materials in a circular manner by exchanging, passing on, and reusing them
- Sourcing food from local producers
- Crossing contexts to allow friction and synergies to emerge
